Jagatguru Satguru Valmik Maharaj Ji
It is a well known fact that Bhagwan Vamik Ji is known all over the world for his famous SAMPURAN RAMAYANAN. The MAHARAMAYAN consists of 2 volumes, the first of which was the RAMAYAN of Lord Ram and the second volume is called the Yogh VISHISTH. The RAMAYAN of Lord Ram tells us about Lord Ram and his life whereas the Yog Vishisth is about gaining awareness of Godliness i.e. achieving final liberation (salvation); Mukti and Moksha predominantly have the same meaning. Both the holy Sampuran Ramayan books were written in the ancient language of Sanskrit, which makes them the oldest holy books in history. These volumes were also written in poetic (verse) form. In addition to these two volumes Bhagwan Valmik Ji also wrote RAM SAMVANDH and AKSHAR LAKSHYA. These works compiled by Bhagwan Valmik Ji were all written in verse form, thus making him the first poet (Aadhkari) of this world. The birth place of Bhagwan Valmik Ji was Multan (in modern Pakistan) during the DRAVIDIAN era. It is stated in Hindu Darma Kosh by Dr.Raj Bali Pandey, that Bhagwan Valmik Ji was born of mother CHARSHANI and father VARNU PARCHETA. Mother Charshani was a very religious and God loving woman who had great influence on Bhagwan Valmik Ji’s life from early childhood. This is said to be the main reason why Bhagwan Valmik Ji spent his childhood, up to 25 years of age, with his elder brother MAHARAJ NARAD JI, in his ashram at KIRAN PUR which was near SRI NAGAR, Kashmir. During this period Bhagwan Valmik Ji gained knowledge in religion, music, verse, science, languages, as well as mental and physical fields. In fact Bhagwan Valmik Ji became such a highly respected and renowned poet that all other poetry writers would consult him on works in verse. It is because of this that Bhagwan Valmik Ji is also known as VAYAKARAN (GRAMMER) VALMIK.
SHRI RAVINDER NATH TAGORE, very well known, popular modern day poet states categorically in one of his books that Bhagwan Valmik Ji was the first poet (AADHRAVI) of the world. As mentioned Bhagwan Valmik Ji wrote his RAMAYAN story in verse form, from which all the other authors of later RAMAYAN stories obtained their ideas from the original work. TULSI RAMAYAN is a classic example.
The late Pandit BAKSHI RAM states in his book that Bhagwan Valmik Ji was born some 4000–5000 years ago in VIBVARY NAGRI near Multan during the month of October on PURAN MASHI (full moon).
